Winery of the month – Kumeu River Wines
Kumeu River Wines was established in 1944 by Mate’ and Melba Brajkovich. The company is operated now by their four adult children.
They specialize in estate grown Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir and also produce an elegant sparkling cremant.
Michael Brajkovich has a degree with honours in Oenology from Roseworthy college in Australia and was New Zealand’s first Master of Wine.
Their barrel fermented Chardonnays are considered some of the very best in New Zealand and wine critics including the esteemed British wine writer and judge Jancis Robinson MW rate them amongst the best in the world.
On some of our tours you can be taken privately through the winery to see how their outstanding wines are made.
